Speaker Profile: Ruediger Staubert is Professor for Astrophysics at the Physics Department of the University of Tuebingen in Germany. He is Head of the X-ray Astronomy Group of the Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysis at Tuebingen University. The scientific program of the group in the past has included a long term balloon program in high energy X-ray astronomy (in collaboration with MPE Garching and with other international partners, including groups in Australia), various rocket programs, participation in EXOSAT and Mir-HEXE. The program today is dominated by work in high energy astrophysics connected with observational data from ROSAT, GRO, RXTE and XMM-Newton. Current activities on future programs include development of imaging instruments for high energy X-rays, participation in the imager on INTEGRAL (IBIS) and the newly proposed German X-ray satellite ABRIXAS.
